The Lost Wax Process
Corporate Film
The Lost Wax Technique is an ancient bronze casting process, demonstrated using a single artist's sculpture.
Dating 6,000 years, used by the ancient Egyptians, the Greeks, in Asian, African and many other cultures around the world, the process today has changed only in the technology used.
Commissioned by The Tate Britain in support of their Lynn Chadwick Retrospective exhibition.
A Lynn Chadwick sculpture is cast using the Lost Wax technique.
Features Lynn Chadwick approving the final cast.
A six part silent dvd with captioned explanations of each of the processes used. It was exhibited alongside the museum cases showing the same sculpture in different stages of casting. These include: rubber moulding; wax pouring; investing; firing and bronze pouring; metal work and patination. An ideal training resource for those interested in understanding the technique.
